Homemade Tzatziki Sauce Recipe (yogurt cucumber sauce!)
PREP TIME: 10 MINUTES
TOTAL TIME: 10 MINUTES
1 cup 2% or whole milk plain Greek yogurt
1/2 lemon, juiced
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1 small cucumber, peeled and shredded (about 3/4 cup shredded cucumber)
2 tablespoons freshly chopped dill
1/4 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Mix together the Greek yogurt, fresh lemon juice, garlic, cucumber, and dill in a medium-sized bowl until well combined. Add salt and pepper, to taste. Serve with pita chips, in a gyro, on a sandwich, in greek salads, or with carrot sticks. Makes 6 servings.
Using a thick plain whole milk or 2% Greek yogurt so that the cucumber doesn’t water down the yogurt too much.
It doesn’t hurt to squeeze your cucumber of excess moisture before adding it to the bowl with the greek yogurt.
Use fresh garlic in this recipe. You can either grate or finely mince the garlic.
