The sweetness of the fruit is balanced nicely with the slightly tart pineapple in this drink. Without adding more than a hint of coconut flavor, coconut water creates a much lighter smoothie than the alternative dairy-based smoothies.

My family is laughably passionate in their love of smoothies. On almost any given day, you’re likely to find our blender on the counter making smoothies in almost every color of the rainbow.

You’ll notice that this smoothie calls for Coconut Water Ice Cubes. We almost never manage to go through a full container of coconut water, so these coconut ice cubes are a staple in our freezer. You can easily swap in plain ice cubes, coconut water, or plain water instead.

Kitchen Tip: I use this blender or this blender to make my smoothies.

Pineapple Orange Banana Smoothie

  • 1 cup orange juice (I used the juice from about 5 small tangelos)
  • 1 cup chopped pineapple (frozen)
  • 1 banana
  • 5 coconut water ice cubes (or about 1/3 cup of coconut water)
  1. Layer ingredients into blender as listed and puree until smooth. Enjoy!

We never manage to go through a full container of coconut water, so these coconut ice cubes are a staple in our freezer.
